Yet again another group has experienced the remoteness, tranquility of nature and the thrill of varying nature activities that Hossa and the surrounding area has to offer. My year got a real positive kickstart as I spent the New Year´s Eve and the first days of January guiding a bunch of great people from Netherlands and Belgium. Some well-slept nights in a cozy log cabin, daily activities like snowshoeing, dog-sledding, cross-country skiing, enjoying the sauna and dipping in a frozen lake, what more can you ask for if you´re looking for an multi-active winter holiday up north!? Being guided by a local professional of course! 😉
Surrounded by vast wilderness dominated by rugged beauty, exposed to “the blue silence” for a whole week and you´re sure to loosen up and have a recreating experience. We sure did and our daily active program was never too tightly scheduled for us not to have time for some nature observation and photography. One delightful example of this was the surprisingly tame great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) that didn´t seem to bother us filming its daily chores from a close distance. Close contact with wild animals is always nice.
I´m sincerely thankful to be able to produce services in a place like this where basic services exist and the infrastructure works but you truly are in the middle of nowhere. This means no light or noise pollution, no supermarkets and no big masses and these aspects are sure to make an impression, especially on a big city dweller. Hossa truly is local, community-based tourism at its best and a visitor after visitor finds this to be true.
The whole week went by really fast but luckily there´s some pictures to remember the moments we shared, I wish all the best for all of my new travelling friends! I hope that the beginning of the year 2014 has this far implemented the tin we all personally casted on the New Year´s Eve, or hopefully not in some cases! 😉
