A quick report concerníng my movements taking place at the moment! Catching perch with fish traps is part of our living with the seasonal variation of nature, at this time of year they are spawning and thereby easily catched with passive methods. It´s local food at its best; delicious natural ingredients combined with the joy and excitement of catching it yourself. Next week I will go trolling and head to the rivers hoping to catch a nice brown trout so more news about fishing on the way! 🙂
This spring has been extremely intense, talking about a heatwave is no exaggeration! I actually burnt myself a bit when I went canoeing last week, it was +25 degrees Celsius, the sun was shining from a cloudless sky and there was not even the smallest breeze of wind in the air. In addition, sun rays reflecting from the calm surface of the lake multiply the heat of the sun. After two days of canoeing through rivers, small rapids and lakes and spending a night out in the wild I felt very refreshed and getting a little burned up was the smallest of my worries. Landscapes embraced by the early summer sun were exceptionally beautiful and I also had a lot of animal contacts: I saw a female moose with its calf from a quite close distance, dozens of nesting birds and discovered fresh bear tracks also. These early summer activities in Hossa combined with the beautiful environment really set you up in a smooth mental state, believe me!
The last female reindeers still inside the pen are giving birth any day now and after that the whole herd is released to the wild. The ones that have already been born are very quick on the feet already and are sucking their mothers udders always when given the opportunity. Pictures attached to this post convey you the greetings and feelings of this spectacular early summer we are enjoying here in Hossa at the moment!
